Every tax-deductible dollar donated to the non-profit PIL Hall of Fame helps us honor past Portland student-athletes, coaches and adminstrators and contributes to efforts to ensure current and future students can benefit from the transformative power of sports.

The all-volunteer PIL Hall of Fame's mission is "To support the athletic programs of Portland public high schools financially and honor the achievements of student-athletes, coaches and administrators."

Online and Legacy Donations
Opening College Doors
PIL College Access is a program that helps PIL students find post–high school sports opportunities. Services provided include self-marketing education, college visitations, coach relationships and consultation, assistance with college and financial-aid applications, transportation to school, and financial assistance with registration and housing costs. Priority is given to students of color and underprivileged youth who attend Franklin, Jefferson, McDaniel, and Roosevelt.
Leveling the Playing Field
The purpose of the PIL Youth Sport Program is to increase access to sports for Portland’s 5,000 middle school students. Specific goals include improving the quality of girls’ basketball, reducing migration to private schools, developing feeder programs to PIL high schools, and installing academic standards so middle schoolers are prepared for high school athletics. Gifts to the PIL Hall of Fame help pay participation fees for students who otherwise could not afford them.
Golf Tournament Proceeds
Supporting Athletes, Honoring Past Stars
Funds raised during our annual Mel Krause Memorial Golf Tournament provide financial support and resources to PIL athletics at the request of the PIL athletic director. Our assistance helps offset participation fees, support college access, fund youth sports programs, provide athletic trainers, supply athletic equipment and upgrade and maintain facilities. If needed, funds may also be used to offset the cost of honoring past athletes at the annual PIL Hall of Fame Induction Banquet.
