Our Mission

The Portland Interscholastic League Hall of Fame is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization operated by volunteers and supported by generous sponsors and donors.

The PIL Hall of Fame honors outstanding student-athletes, coaches and other contributors who have made Portland Public Schools' athletics programs thrive since the league formed in the early 20th century. More than 1,000 of these individuals are profiled in this website, which saves our organization the expense of operating a brick-and-mortar facility.

Additionally, the Hall of Fame assists PIL sports by donating funds to support Portland Public Schools athletics programs. In the past, these donations have helped fund scholarships, athletic trainer expenses, participation fees, equipment and facility improvements.

OUR MISSION

To support the athletic programs of Portland public high schools financially and honor the achievements of student-athletes, coaches and administrators.

The History
of the PIL Hall of Fame

Starting with three inductees in 1981, the PIL Hall of Fame has grown to include more than 1,100 inductees from 15 past and present Portland-area high schools.

Honoring Athletes and Raising Funds for PIL Sports

That's the PIL Hall of Fame's mission, and we pursue it through several events and initiatives, including our Annual Induction Banquet and the Mel Krause Memorial Golf Tournament.

Know a Hall of Fame Candidate You'd Like to Nominate?

A committee of PIL Hall of Fame volunteers selects each year's inductees.  Portland high schools are encouraged to submit nominees, but anyone can nominate a candidate.
