Post-High School Career
Played Freshman football at Stanford University before knee injuries sidelined him. Graduated from Portland State University in 1968 with BS degree in Economics. U.S. Marine Corp. for three years. Career includes Jantzen, eight years; Oil drilling, four years; and retired from Columbia Sportswear in 2001 as Vice President.
Commentary
Parents of athletes, including mine, provided encouragement and endless transportation. They were undoubtedly under-appreciated at the time, but subsequent tours of duty with our own kids changed our views. From Scouts to Campfire Girls plus YMCA Basketball, Little League, 6 years of 3 sport high school athletes, and summer All-Comers Meets, they contributed countless hours to my brother, sister and me. Thanks Mom and Dad
