Outstanding football player; named to Little All-America team while playing at Willamette University; played professionally for San Diego Bombers; while in Marine Corps, received the Purple Heart and Silver Star medals; coached football at Grant HS, compiling a record of 37-3-3, including three state championships; became head football coach at Willamette University in 1952 and held that position for 20 years, winning or sharing seven Northwest Conference titles and finishing with a 98-64-10 record.
