3-year letter winner in baseball, All-PIL as sophomore and junior; was #1 pitcher both years on championship teams; '37 American Legion team won the NW Championship and finished 2nd in the Western Regionals. 2-year letter winner in basketball, All-PIL in sophomore and junior years; All-State as a junior. Captain and leading scorer junior year.
Post-High School Career
Entered the Army before graduating from Lincoln.
