Played football, basketball and baseball at Soouthern Oregon College; was basketball referee for 20 years at both high school level and Pacific-8 Conference; was chairman of World Boxing Association; was treasurer of North American Boxing Federation and one of three U. S. members on World Boxing Council; helped start the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) basketball program; was past president of Wilshire Little League; was past-president of Oregon Golden Gloves Boxing; was past president of Oregon's chapter of National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame; was past president of the Ex-Newsboys Association; was Portland City Auditor for three four-year terms
