Elwood Cooke


High School Honors
Started playing tennis the summer before his junior year; won letters in junior and senior years and was undefeated in PIL singles matches, leading Techmen to 2nd place team finishes both years.
Post-High School Career
Was Oregon State singles and doubles champion in 1935-36. Teamed with Bobby Riggs to win Wimbledon doubles trophy in 1939 (finished second to Riggs in All-England singles finale). He and Riggs won the 1940 US indoor doubles crown. Ranked 4th in the nation in 1945. Inducted into the Pacific NW Tennis Hall of Fame in 2004, the year he died.
