Don Barrett
Post-High School Career
PIL Hall of Fame Merit Award Recipient, 2008
Don served as social worker at Lincoln, Jefferson and Roosevelt high schools; athletic director at Friendly House in North Portland and park director at Wallace Park.
For 30 years he was the scorer/timer/announcer at 1,500 Jefferson and Roosevelt athletic events.
Don officiated at more than 90 PIL track and field meets and was player agent/coach/umpire for Oregon Trail Little League and Jefferson High School Babe Ruth teams.
The Portland Interscholastic League Hall of Merit Award (officially renamed the Roy Love PIL Hall of Fame Distinguished Service Award in 2017) celebrates individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to the PIL community and to honoring and preserving the rich history of high school athletics in Portland.
