Commentary

Dale chose to follow in his big brother Pat's footsteps by accepting a football scholarship to University of Southern California. His high expectations were dashed with a devastating knee injury his freshman year that ended his playing career. He turned his energy and focus to academic and career endeavors. Following graduation at Oregon State University and a short stint in the US Army, Dale began a successful career in the food processing industry. He rose through leadership ranks with Flav-R-Pac, revolutionizing their cost accounting system. He caught the eye of NorPac Foods and was hired to play a pivotal role in the merger of the two organizations. He ended his nearly 30-year career as Corporate Production Manager.

He believed that his athletic career had played a formative role in his person and character; teaching him the value of hard work, commitment, perseverance, and team. He died June 9, 2009, and by his induction follows big brother Pat who was inducted into the PIL HOF in 2004.
