Charles (Chuck) Cleek


High School Honors
3-year football letter winner; quarterback/punter; 1930 team undefeated, won PIL & State Championships. 2-year basketball letter winner, All-PIL senior year; 2nd at State Tournament, 1930. 3-year baseball letter winner, All-PIL all three years, team champions, 1930 and 1931; PIL MVP, 1931.
Post-High School Career
He lettered in football at Eastern Oregon College as a freshman. Chuck left college and started a 41-year career with the American Can Co. He received citations for volunteer work for the US Coast Guard and the City of Portland Fire Department. He played basketball and baseball on club teams. He was described by Oregon Journal Sports Editor George Pasero as "an extremely aggressive, tenacious competitor."
