High School Honors
3 Basketball Letters. Part-time starter on 1970 PIL Championship team as a Sophomore. As a Junior, Team's leading scorer (19 ppg), 2nd Team All-PIL, and 4th Team All-State. As a Senior, 1st Team All-PIL, All-State, and All-State Tournament on PIL and State Championship teams; and leading scorer (20 ppg). Honorable mention on Prep All-American teams; Regional McDonald's All-Star. A native of Queen City, Texas, Charles was Goldenball Co-Player of the Year as an 8th grader.
Post-High School Career
Earned 2 basketball letters at Portland State University; MVP as a Freshman. Attended University of Hawaii, Hilo. Brother of PIL Hall of Fame member Lisa Channel, Jackson, '82. Served many years as a Teacher in Special Ed, Regular Ed, and Life Skills at several schools in the Portland School District, and also served in the Educational Resource Center.
